Raymond Robinson was a severely disfigured man whose years of nighttime walks made him into a figure of urban legend in western Pennsylvania. In 2008 film maker Tisha York planned to produce and direct a film on The Green Man urban legend titled Route 351, and the film was on schedule to be complete by 2009, filming was delayed due to the great recession and is still on hold. York said unidentified investors from western Pennsylvania had put up $1 million to fund the project, but she and her partners decided to refuse the money with the economy in shambles.
As she recuperated from hip surgery in late January, York said she has experienced numerous “health issues” over the last four years, too, which kept the film from moving forward.
“We have no plans to make the film, but we’re not letting go of it,” said York, who maintains her claim to the film, including the 200 interviews recorded in the area.
“As long as I live, I will hold the rights to it,” York said, “because I believe that Ray deserves a story that is true and shows the incredible fortitude and bravery that he had, and his family, and the life that he lived and the people that he touched.”
